What will you learn in Years 8-10?

In year 8-10 you will take part in a variety of sports and activities which can help you develop teamwork and improve your health related fitness. You will have 2 double periods of PE per week and the activities will change every 4 weeks.  These activities include hockey, gymnastics, basketball, netball, dance, football, badminton, athletics, health related fitness, tennis and rugby.

What will you learn in Years 11&12?

In year 11-12 you can build on the skills developed in Year 8-10. There may also be the opportunity to go to the local gym or golf driving range. You will have one double period per week.

If you choose GCSE PE, you will get an additional 5 periods of PE per week.  Some of these will be practical lessons and others theory. The GCSE specification is briefly outlined below.

50% Practical (controlled assessment)

25% Theory Exam  on Developing Performance

25% Theory Exam on Factors underpinning Health and Performance

What equipment will you need?

As you can see, the PE kit is outlined above for boys and girls:

For girls it is a maroon t-shirt, maroon sweatshirt, black socks and a skort or leggings.

For boys it is a maroon t-shirt, maroon sweatshirt, black socks and shorts 

Any other information

After school activities run every day after school and these provide an opportunity to develop your skills, meet new friends and perhaps play on a school team. Seasonal practices are held for hockey, football, netball, rugby, basketball, dance, cross country and athletics.
