UNIT 1: Study in Depth (50%) – Externally assessed (Exam 2 Hours)
Section A: Germany c1918 – c1939
Section B: Peace, War & Neutrality c1932 – c1949
At Foundation Tier the paper includes short answer structured questions and source questions at Higher Tier. The paper includes short answers, structured questions and questions requiring extended writing.
UNIT 2: Outline Study (25%) – Externally assessed (Exam 1 Hour 15 mins)
The Cold War c1945 – c1991
At both Tiers there will be one question which will require the use of source material. At Foundation Tier the second question will be structured. At Higher Tier the second question will require extended writing.
UNIT 3: Investigative Study (25%) – Internally assessed – (27 Hours – 3 Hours for write-up)
Task and theme set by CCEA each year
There will be one assignment with two questions to be answered. The preparation for writing the assignment and the formal write-up will be carried out in a controlled situation. The finished assignment will be a maximum of 2000 words.
